Funny that, I was thinking the same thing when reading Yurtle to my son.
Biggest issue I see is that people still think that you can add layer upon layer without needing to care about each preceeding layer (or system).
I disagree with the likes of NetworkWorld and their cries of "this has set cloud back years" bollocks, it just shows that, like in most places, people take shortcuts. Through the lack of understanding of what they are doing, through pure neglect, or some other constraint they bring this on themselves.
At the end of the day the market, and solutions themselves, are still in their early years and will take some time yet before people a) understand fully what it takes to build something rock solid; and b) understand the ramifications of the compromises/tradeoffs they make.
